$8 MilkV Duo: Arduino on one core and Linux on the other
Просмотров 73 тыс.21 день назад
Imagine a chip that runs Arduino on one core, Linux on the other, and is built on RISC-V architecture - all for around ten dollars. Sounds like science fiction? Well, it’s not. This might just be the next big leap after Arduino, Espressif, and Raspberry Pi. WiFi on LoRaWAN bands (HaLow) offers good penetration and long range (802.11ah)
Просмотров 67 тыс.Месяц назад
When I made my videos about LoRaWAN, some viewers asked if it would replace conventional Wi-Fi with a much bigger range. Unfortunately, this was not the case because LoRa has a huge range but a minimal throughput. It seems somebody listened to them and invented Wi-Fi on the same frequency band as LoRaWAN using Wi-Fi protocols. Cool. In this video, we will check it out to see if it can keep its ...

Determine your location to the centimeter around the globe? For everybody, not only for the military? Only with an ESP32 and a decent GPS receiver module? Not possible! Wrong; it is possible by using real-time kinematics. You can even earn money by building a base station and connecting it to a global network (Decentralized physical infrastructure network)!. Andreas I just watched your video on Nano VNA's and thinking about getting one. I have a question about the calibration of the Nano VNA. The Load calibration you used was 50 ohms if I am working with 75 ohm cable, antenna and receiver do I have to calibrate with a 75 ohm load or can I still use the 50 ohm load that comes with the VNA calibration kit? If I do have to use a 75 ohm load where can I get that for the Nano VNA?

any idea, if it is possible to use a pressure sensor 30 elevation meter lower of a water tank and still read the water level +- 0.1 to 0.3 m ? the water gets pumped from the spring to the water basin 30m higher. I have only 1 tube to fill and refill the basin. no electricity or cable at the basin. now I was thinking if a pressure sensor mounted at the lower location (spring) can detect the water level and how it behaves if the pump kicks in or or somebody empties the tank. would a pressure sensor be too unreliable?

A version that runs on an ESP32 would be nice, a Pi is overkill and power hungry, it could use GPS or NTP over WiFi to get the time. mind you you could also rip the guts out of the clock and wire directly to the stepper motor unit.

Real Time Kinematic (RTK) is/was either a trademark and/or a marketing term of Trimble Navigation Ltd. The difference between it and dGPS is/was corrections while the receiver was in motion, while dGPS required both the base and receiver to be stationary. 1cm horizontal precision and 1m vertical precision was available to professional users in the year 2000 (SA on or off).

I bought one MilkV DuoS with eMMC and wifi. This board is very weird, because it combined many platforms on a single SBC. At the same time, Linux is extremely basic - kernel, busybox, some lightweight utilities, python 3.9 with numpy, pillow, pyserial, spi, lxml. Out of the box there's sshd (dropbear), dhcp client and server, ntp, wpa_supplicant, good old init.d and extremely simple start up scripts. Few tools such as alsa-utils, wget, curl. All development must be done in Linux virtual machine or development containers, there's no distribution with package manager, there's no compiler. Whole Linux consumes 22M of memory and 160M of disc space. Device sips 1W of power. So far I spend one day with it.

That small black piece of steel in the middle of the handle is a wire stripper. Push the wire through, slide it into the slot and pull the insulation off. You MUST insert the wire so that when you pull, the cutting blade presses onto the body of the tool. Get it the wrong way round and you will bend the blade. You can get wrapping wire that doesn't need stripping, but you need special pins with square edges that bite into the insulation. In the 1970s I worked for Burroughs Machines who had terminals in every branch of NatWest, Barclays, Midland and Yorkshire banks, and it was a regular task to do modifications to the wire-wrapped backplane.

Relife RL-055 = alcohol dispelnser we want for isopropanol Might be usefull to use the item titles from aliexpress or the key words cause in my case I tried to buy the alcohol dispenser but got an error 404 style message "does not ship to your country" without showing the site and item description. So I tried to search for it using the words you had used "alchohol dispenser" and got everything alcoholoic dispenser but nothing for diy or should I write tinker cause some might misunderstand diy like diy alcohol distillery or so. I found my item by searching for this "RL-055" and way cheaper - 6,82€ incl. shipping and taxes to germany. If I have found such item I usually do an additional "google lense search" via google chrome for such picture to get more offers and prices. but 7€ per unit (I got 2 of those) was a great deal togethter with the desoldering iron for 13€ which then after adding cables to 29€ qualified for another 4€ discount plus 4% cashback.

Try an old and trusty Linksys WRT54GL router for your 2.4GHz test you will be surprised. In the past decade the quality of new 2.4GHz routers dropped significantly as they focus more on the 5GHz band. It is both radio and software neglect. I already had multiple n/ac routers with crazy 5GHz performance but worst 2.4GHz coverage than my old WRT54GL , WNDR4300 and WRT150N.

A similar desoldering iron made by Zhongdi is sold by all electronics resellers in Europe, it comes in 30W and 40W varieties, and the 40W one is more common. The original model number is ZD-211, but some resellers have their own designation. Usually costs around 6-15€. Farnell's carries it as Duratool D01849, Conrad as Basetech LWK-211. Velleman carries it as VTDESLO3 in the 30W variant. Then there's McPower EPH-40 and any number of importer brands. Soldering tip cleaner: classic Tippy from Stannol. Both of these items can come out cheaper than ordering them from overseas, especially if you can just tack them on order you'd be making anyway, and you get them overnight as well. I use iwiss Micro Crimp IWS-3220M, which is simpler and does crimping steps separately, but is great to use for a beginner. iwiss is now also known as icrimp. I must have paid around 12€ for it back many years ago. The machining and material quality seems really good and i haven't had much trouble with it, though sometimes the crimps don't come out super straight because they're separate, but they're easily straightened out, and you can see clearly whether things are going OK so you have correction opportunities. For stripper i use an FS-D3 that i bought upon the review on this very channel for about 5€, i don't hate it.
